Colhayne Cottages are a pair of charming self catering holiday homes that are situated in the parish of Shute, which is in an area of outstanding natural beauty. They both enjoy easy access to the A35
(1/2 mile) and are positioned off a quiet no through road. The views from both cottages are stunning and far reaching, over the rolling fields and woodlands of the Axe valley. As well as providing a peaceful and beautiful setting, the valley slopes down to the river below and Umborne Brook is within walking distance of the cottages. An abundance of flora and fauna can be found here, including the occasional Kingfisher.
Country Walk NearbyMany thatched inns and tea shops (offering Devon cream teas) can be found in the area, together with nearby National Trust property of Shute Baron and Sidmouth donkey sanctuary is within easy reach by car. The cathedral city of Exeter (with theatre, leisure centre and shopping facilities) is approximately 30 minutes drive. Lyme Regis, in the neighbouring county of Dorset , is just 8 miles away, with its famous Cobb harbour.
It is also a well-known haunt for the fossil-hunter, and sea fishing, sailing and boat hire are all available. The coastal resort town of Seaton, with its shingle beach, has shops, seaside entertainments and fascinating open-top tramcars of the Electric Tramway which runs beside the Axe estuary (itself a haven for bird-watchers). There are tennis courts too, as well as facilities for riding and an 18-hole golf course. Honiton is famous for its lace-making and interesting antique shops is only 5 miles away.

Each Self Catering Cottage sleeps 4 and offers a cosy retreat and comprises of 1 double room and 1 twin with two single beds.
Shower room with walk in shower, lounge/ kitchen/ diner, with colour T.V and DVD player. Fully equipped kitchen. Fully central heated. Bed linen and towels are provided. Patio area BBQ and children play area.
Directions : From Honiton take the A35 heading towards Axminster, Bridport and Dorchester and follow it for approximately 4miles to the picturesque village of Wilmington . Pass though the village and continue for a further 1 mile. Take a right turning sign posted Umborne 1 mile. Just before a sharp bend, this is marked by a white sign in the verge labelled Platts Farm, Woodview, Colhayne, and Colhayne Cottages. Follow the lane past Platts Farm and Woodlands View and Colhayne Cottages are the next properties on the left.
